NAME: Naoto Shirogane

AGE: 17 - Aged up one year to 18. Aging up would not have changed her much. Naoto has always been mature for her age, having lost her parents when she was young, and then trying to step into her fathers shoes when it came to the legacy of the Shirogane name. She had to grow up quickly do to this. She kept her gender a secret as much as she could, since being a detective and a girl isn't considered a normal thing in Japan. This made her insecure about her appearance if anyone ever found out. Her Shadow reveals to her friends what gender she is, and when she denies it, it attacks. After the battle, Naoto finally accepts that she is both a detective and a woman, and no longer feels the need to hide. When they leave the world, she is comfortable enough to reveal that she is in fact a girl to everyone, though she still prefers wearing masculine clothes. She continued to don the boys uniform when going to school. Through this experience, her emotional maturity is shown and grows after her confrontation with the Shadow.

Since meeting her friends, she has come out of her shell as both a person and a woman. She is the most mature person in her group by far, knowing the consequences of doing things against another's wishes and operating on logic for the most part. Her Lover's Route in Persona 4 shows her biggest growth, since she and the protagonist at one point become physically intimate at the end of the route. She is big on consent, and would never give it unless she fully trusts someone.

BACKGROUND: History
INCENTIVE/FIT: Naoto's incentive would be her friends, since she treasures them above all else. She wants to stay in their lives since they helped her come to terms with herself as a girl and as a person that is more than just her family lineage. This place would help her become even more comfortable in her own body by letting her explore what options she has when it comes to different forms of intimacy.

Naoto wasn't sure if this place sounded like a dream come true, or some elaborate ploy to get people to sign up for something insane. The recruiter explained everything she wanted to know, even if it took longer. She had had a lot of questions. Was this place really right for her? Would it help her overcome some of the nagging doubts she still had after everything was said and done?

The recruiter let her have some times to decide. Naoto wouldn't just jump on something like this without thorough thought. It wasn't like her. She wasn't impulsive like the rest of her friends, even when her temper got the better of her. Better to be cool and logical instead of rushing in and dying. How many times had she been the voice of reason? How many times had her logic been ignored? More than she'd like. But she values her friends more than anything. They are genuine, if at times very weird, people who actually care for her more as a person than a genius detective. Wouldn't they be surprised to see her here, with this recruiter. Having to mull over the option of a city where intimacy was encouraged without the strict Japanese norms, or to stay here and possibly never do what she really wanted to do.

It is with a nod and a deep breath that she looks at the recruiter. "I'll do it. Let's go."

Naoto's Persona that she ended the game with is set to Persona 4 Golden, Yamato Sumeragi. It is her ultimate Persona, and has the balanced aspect of Light and Darkness. She won't use it unless she absolutely has to. Her weapon is a handgun, which she will keep concealed.
